The following are from my photographic
collection of bougainvilleas in India, Thailand, Mexico and the U.S.
One of the most beautiful gardens I have seen in the tropics is Nong Nooch
in Thailand, about three hours from Bangkok. The landscape design, the
extraordinary collections of numerous genera, the cleanliness and more
highlight this as my favorite tropical garden.

massive Bougainvillea spectabilis photographed in the Lal Bagh
Garden in Bangalore. It has spread well over 100 feet and is
covering tall trees!

Bougainvillea 'Shubra', a
virtual cascade of blooms.

There are now many cultivars with variegated bracts and
quite a few with variegated leaves as well.
